The Optimus Philosophy

Our business philosophy at Optimus Safety Management is to care about people and organisations. We do this in partnership with our clients and the individuals we work with through imparting skills, expertise and systems in a people-centred way. An understanding of human behaviour, beliefs and values, and how that motivates people, is core to our philosophy.

In return, we build trust with our clients and the people we work face to face with through working confidentially and recognising the best intent behind all behaviours, as well as the potential of individuals to be the best they can be.

• Caring for each person we encounter – to bring out the best in people’s behaviours, to see them find the best in themselves within the working environment. All of us here at Optimus aim to model a caring attitude and demonstrate caring behaviours in everything we do. 

• Working in partnership – we don’t want you to be dependent on us! - we want to work alongside you to share skills, opportunities, understanding and success. 

• Facilitating change – we recognise that change can be difficult. We bring our expertise in human behaviour and change management to find the right way to move forward. We achieve this through empowering the people involved on the ‘coal face’ and coaching leaders, managers and supervisors towards creating safety at all levels in an organisation. 

• Innovation – we want to go where people haven’t been before. We want generative and evolutionary change, not remedial change. We have the skills and abilities to map out the consequences of taking risks but are not constrained by the past. We can think about things in a totally different way. 

To achieve this we have a team of professionals with solid reputations for providing high level consultancy in people, change and HSE, and who also have a burning desire to ‘make the difference that makes the difference’. We specialise in innovative cultural and behavioural change programmes that address the real human causes of organisational dysfunction, poor corporate accountability and ethics, and sub-standard safety, health and environmental performance. 

Optimus have consultants with extensive experience in the offshore oil and gas exploration sector, public and private sectors, manufacturing, government and the NHS. We have taken behavioural change innovations derived from organisational and clinical psychology into the harsh offshore environment, found what really works, and brought the learning back for use in other organisations. 

Optimus believe that each company has its own unique requirements and therefore our approach is to develop individual programmes and services depending on the stage your company is at in its own journey.
