BEHAVIOURAL CONSULTANTS -  UK Applications are now closed

In the modern context of organisations, coaching is becoming more and more important as a means of bringing about change at the level of the individual – providing  insights, directed learning, and shifts and growth in personal awareness that lead to changes in behaviour within the organisation (and indeed, in a person’s life as a whole). Individual change is likely to lead to cultural change as the ripples spread out around them.

So what? Well, at Optimus we believe that if we motivate people to want to change, give them the skills they need to do things differently then support them in the workplace through targeted coaching, we are more likely to get greater and greater levels of change and transformation. We bring about behavioural change through coaching at the level of a person’s attitude, beliefs, values, identity or sense of purpose. Some people and some organisations aren’t ready for transformation. But if they are, then we have the tools and the people to take them on that journey.

Optimus Safety Management Ltd carries out bespoke consultancy, training and coaching in values-led behavioural safety, health and environmental change. Our consultants, trainers and coaches have a reputation for helping our clients achieve excellence in their HSE performance. Optimus also offers executive coaching and consultancy to industry leaders.

We are seeking behavioural consultants who can:

  • Identify an organisation’s culture and develop a behavioural strategy to deal with the people, business performance or cultural issues at the root of the perceived problem
  • Use their extensive experience and expertise in change methodologies, or application of psychological and business models to the field of safety, environment and health
  • Develop and deliver specific high level training or coaching programmes to meet a organisation’s needs
  • Carry out training or coaching at a leadership level in blue-chip organisations that leads to behavioural change in the workforce
  • Apply their skills and knowledge to the area of safety, health or environment within the oil and gas, construction or mining industries.

The ideal candidate would hold qualifications or have experience in any of the following: organisational development, change processes, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, occupational psychology, human factors, or people development. In addition, a qualification or extensive experience in coaching is essential.

We have current vacancies based in the UK, Europe and Australia, and extensive travel is expected.

Have you ever been on a training course and wished you were anywhere else but??! Mentioning the words ‘safety’ and ‘training’ in the same sentence is often cause for a potential candidate to give up the will to live!

Here at Optimus Safety Management Ltd, we keep people awake. In fact, our job is to awaken people to a new and different way of viewing safety. This isn’t about ‘telling’. We love to inspire and motivate people, to give them an insight into why, fascinatingly, humans are vulnerable in the world of work, and how we can use our very human instinct to care as a tool for a better safety performance.

We call our training ‘changework’. We go beyond information giving and skills development to bring about fundamental change in individuals and organisations. Our changework involves some education in medium to large scale groups. It mostly involves the facilitation of significant change in small to medium sized groups

We are seeking behavioural safety trainers who can deliver or facilitate a specified training/ changework programme against a client project.  The core aspects of this role are:

  • Facilitation of both small and major events
  • Delivery of training or changework to clients
  • Training needs analysis
  • Development of a learning approach for clients that both reflects Optimus’ unique insights and achieves behavioural outcomes
  • Tailoring and adaptation of existing materials to meet a particular client, group or individual need

The ideal candidate will :

  • Convey a sense of personal charisma
  • Be warm, passionate and fired up to make a difference
  • Balance wisdom and insightfulness with humility and internal strength
  • Listen and ask powerful questions more than they ‘tell’ or advise
  • Be of solid character and able to focus on the good in people
  • See the bigger picture of what needs to change
  • Be socially mobile, at ease working with all levels of an organisation
